b. Lessening the burdens of government
c. Lessening neighborhood tensions
d. Combating community deterioration
e. Advancement of community education and training
Summer will see a return to Grant Park’s PARTY IN THE PARK. We will soon have the
first of two FREE musical events at the Community Park gazebo in Grant Park, 209
West Dixie Highway, presented by Sharper Homes, Inc and the Grant Park Foundation
as well as our event sponsors: Peoria Packing, Destination Yoga, Bennett Curtis House,
HD Auto Care, Flanagan’s Pub, Griffin Gate Farms, Sunrise Greenhouse, and Katie
O’Brien with VRS Realty.
These events will provide an excellent evening out for the whole family. There will be
the Bennett Curtis food truck on site in case you’d like to picnic but don’t want the fuss
of doing the cooking. There might even be a surprise dessert! Bring a lawn chair and
something to drink and we will do our best to entertain you! This month, June 13 th , we
will feature High Anxiety as our musical performer and July 11 th we will present KGB
Band. In case of rain the shows will go on and we will be inside the Community Center
at 209 West Dixie Highway. All concerts begin at 6:00 PM and will continue until 9:00
PM.
We will also have some 50/50 raffles to benefit the foundation. The Foundation
maintains the Heldt Park Natural Playground, the circle gardens along the RR tracks,
the Village Hall Parking area plantings, Legion Park Native Plants gardens, and is
beginning our work at Hilgert Park. The gPark Rangers are an integral part of our
success and work hard to provide our residents with beautiful places to enjoy while
earning their first paychecks. We are pleased to report that when these preteens/teens
leave us, they have a good understanding of what it is like to hold a job and a firm
understanding that they never want to work outside ever again! Our plans this year
include a mommy and me swing at the Community Park, completing the drinking water
fountain there as well. With luck, we will make some inroads at the Hilgert Park too.
More info will be available soon.
Information about The Grant Park Foundation
We want to make our little village the best it can be. We are green and growing, always working to create great opportunities for our residents. This isn’t always easy, as we only have 500 rooftops and a population of 1331. We have all the same expenses of a larger town, but less of a population to provide the amenities we’d like. We are opening up to the wider on-line world in the hopes that someone remembers small towns of years past and wants to help us out.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals to improve visual displays and provide activities. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
